Research in Action invites proposals for presentations, workshops, facilitated conversations, creative sessions, and other interactive offerings for the 2027 Community Research for Liberation National Convening, taking place June 10-11, 2027 in Minneapolis.
Please complete this form to submit your proposal by January 15, 2027. The selection committee will make notifications no later than February 15, 2027.
This year’s convening, Blueprints for Liberation: Wisdom, Imagination, and Solidarity, asks us to move beyond examining the systems we have inherited and toward imagining and building what comes next. We understand blueprints not as fixed plans, but as collective visions shaped by the wisdom of our communities, our capacity to imagine different futures, and the relationships and solidarity needed to bring those futures to life.
We welcome proposals from community members and organizers, researchers, educators, nonprofit practitioners, artists, filmmakers, facilitators, healers, public-sector workers, philanthropic leaders, and others whose work offers lessons, practices, questions, or possibilities for community research and collective liberation.
We are extending a special invitation to youth leaders and youth advocates who collaborate with young people to send in proposals related to the convening’s theme.
Each accepted session will receive a $500 honorarium and, for presenters traveling from outside Minnesota, up to $800 in travel support. These amounts are allocated per session, not per presenter. If you are presenting individually, you will receive the full amount. If your session includes multiple presenters, the honorarium and travel support will be shared among the presenters, with the group deciding how to divide the funds.
