Meet Tyrai
Our Coaching and Training Manager, Tyrai Bronson, brings decades of experience in staff and leadership development.
“In every aspect of my life, I work to normalize the truth that gender and sexuality are not binary, that race is a social construction with very real consequences, and that every child deserves access to a high-quality education. I do not simply advocate for inclusive spaces—I work to create them. My identities inform my purpose, and my purpose is rooted in making room for people to learn, lead, and exist fully as themselves.”
What we provide
Training: With a focus on identifying and developing shared values, we support individuals and teams in building the skills and protocols for critical self-awareness, individual embodiment and conflict navigation.
Strategy: From reviewing to creating policies that support racial justice in the workplace and in the community, we support organizations across sectors in reimagining how they can share power with community and assess their impact over time.
Engagement: From facilitating internal dialogues to creating community-based action councils, we co-create accountability mechanisms and feedback loops for organizations to establish goals, advocate for policy and legislative changes, and design locally responsive programs.
What it looks like
TRAINING: Minnesota Department of Human Services Equity Committee and Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault
DHS and MNCASA wanted to strengthen their team and build their capacity to handle conflict, share power and lean into difficult tasks. They contracted with RIA to provide a two-day training to that focused on:
Naming and exploring our individual and collective values and fears
Understanding the role of white supremacy in conflict, comfort and accountability
Discerning between fear and discomfort
Establishing ground rules
Exploring hindrance to receiving and believing
Learning the importance of and showcasing practices of self and community care

STRATEGY: Bush Foundation
We worked with Bush to grapple with the concept of psychological safety and how they could achieve it in their workplace. Instead of focusing solely on psychological safety, we dug into the concept, exploring the ways it can be helpful and alternative approaches that might also serve an organization seeking to empower authentic staff engagement and leadership. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Heading Home Minnesota Funders Collaborative (HHMFC)
HHMFC wanted to ensure that two grantee organizations in Greater Minnesota had the knowledge and ability to work in effective, meaningful and accountable partnership with communities directly impacted by housing instability. They contracted with RIA to provide multi-year, direct coaching support to the grantee organizations to identify their unique challenges and provide customized tools designed specifically to increase their capacity to center community expertise and achieve actionable outcomes in their work.
