How to Safely Measure Rainbows: A Trauma-Informed Approach to Researching Black LGBTQ+ Survivors: Participants will learn from in-depth data and analysis on the Black LGBTQ+ community to understand the importance of attending to intersections within the community.
Data Culture Alchemy: Black Women’s Memory, Meaning Making, and Mentions as Pathways to Liberation: Using the M³ framework-- Memory, Meaning‑Making, and Mentions-- this session illuminates how data becomes alchemical when it fully embraces culture, identity, positionality, and the layered contexts Black women navigate.
Beyond the Outburst: Dismantling the Criminalization of Survival: This presentation explores the "Abuse-to-Prison Pipeline," where marginalized survivors, specifically Black and Brown individuals who lack the social capital to be seen as the "perfect victim," are transformed from victims into defendants.
Queering Community Partnerships: A Black Queer Supper Club's Model for Mutually Beneficial Partnerships: Traditional community partnerships often prioritize organizational goals over community needs. Tulips in the Garden: A Black Queer Supper Club offers an alternative. Participants will learn how the supper club builds beneficial partnerships with local nonprofits and community initiatives by centering joy, authentic relationships, and mutual support.
Living Liberatory Values: Lessons from Five Years of Participatory Evaluation with Black Moms in Jackson, Mississippi: In this presentation, our team will reflect on what it means to act to end epistemic oppression and maintain openness to personal transformation not just in theory, but in the context of a real project over multiple years. This session is an invitation to sit with the beauty and the difficulty of that together.
"I Want To Be Heard:" Centering BIPOC Women Survivors of Sexual Violence in Ramsey County: In 2023, the Minnesota Justice Research Center, Ramsey County Attorney's Office, and SOS Sexual Violence Services collaborated to center the experiences of BIPOC women survivors of sexual assault in Ramsey County - a project rooted in accountability and shared meaning-making. This presentation will overview the research, findings, and recommendations, followed by a panel discussion with a researcher, system actor, and community advocate or participant on policy shifts and ongoing relationship-building.
NAEYC Workforce Surveys: Understanding the Realities of the Early Childhood Workforce to Inform Advocacy and Drive Solutions: Our session will share how we center and amplify educator voices, worked at speeds that met the urgency experienced by those most disproportionately impacted by inequity, and invited advocates to co-create every stage of the survey process alongside us.

The 2026 convening is just the start of a longer journey.
Over time, we hope the convening will strengthen the field of community-based action research in our region. It will foster deeper trust and accountability among researchers, institutions, and communities. It will expand opportunities for participants to learn together, share lived experience, and hold one another accountable. It will also build cultural foundations for resilience, ensuring that research supports, rather than harms, communities.
